Custom Super Sailor Chibi Moon by PaulineFrench Custom Super Sailor Chibi Moon by PaulineFrench
This is a take on Teen Sailor Chibi Moon from Sailor Moon in the Dream arch (SuperS). Everything was done by hand and I'm proud since this is my first custom piece (minus the 2 garage kits that I've finished). My only issues were with the reaction of the plastic to the sand paper that I used. It was probably harder than it should have been. The figure still looks great though. My painting is getting MUCH better.

Inconsistencies with the Character
:bulletred:Teen Chibi Moon has thicker pig tails near the odangos similar to her child version. This hair is more "adult".
:bulletred:Missing her feather hair clips (I may just make them).
:bulletred:The center of her bow is round rather than heart shaped.
:bulletred:Back bow is short due to resources.

Materials
Sailor Moon World 1 bootleg figure parts, Crafters Acrylic paints, Glossy Varnish, Loctite Super Glue (best shit ever).

Time
3 days (approx 20 hours of work).

Copyright

Thank you to everyone who has favourited this piece and/or watched me! You've all made this piece my second most popular piece in my entire gallery in just under 3 days. It makes me SO proud <3

I take commissions =) Just keep in mind that my "spare parts" are limited, so her pose might be different if I can't find what I need. It'd be $40 + Shipping if you're interested.

How did you make the odangos that shape? (Assuming you painted over an Usagi model?)

I actually had a bootleg Black Lady figurine and cut off her odangos :XD: I then repainted them to a better pink and attached them with superglue =)

Ebay is your friend! lol. Or... if you can shop online at all then I suggest Serasell and SMCollectors at Livejournal.com. You can pick up some cheap bootleg figurines and give it a try =)

lol Did I worry you? There's no way I could bring myself to use official figurines for something like this. Also, I can get bootlegs, repair, and paint them before anything official that I purchased can even be shipped to me.

Lots of people use official merchandise with reasons like "It will match all my other dolls" or "There are plenty of these things around, they made lots of them!" But, every time an official product gets permanently altered, there is one less of that around. :( It's why you'll never see me with with anything by Setsuna Kou. I have no idea if they use official stuff or not, but I do know I won't risk helping destroy official products since they don't state either way. I still need the Sailor Pluto Petit Soldier figure. I won't help make less of them for me to try and get.

Ugh I know what you mean! What's wrong with using the bootleg versions? lol They're the exact same thing... they just need some tweaking and repair. Although I do have to admit that I had someone ask about a figurine that would involve buying an official figurine to make gashapon style. If they had gotten back to me seriously I probably would have gone for it... very painfully :P But that's when you ask about figures with damaged or missing parts.

*nod* The closest I've come to using an official for a custom, is that I have one of the baby-faced 11.5 inch Sailor Moon dolls that is going to just be a regular Usagi. Mom found it at a resale shop some years back, and her hair was a mess, she was missing parts of her outfit, and her fuku was dirty. But, I've not made any drastic permanent changes beyond taking the bands out of her hair, which I tried to keep in tact. XD Everything she had with her is in a plastic baggy in case I want/need it at some point. I plan to make some other customs, but it will be with blank ball jointed dolls made specifically for customizing.

lol Thank you! It definitely makes me happy that you enjoyed the figurine so much.

If you ever go for it then I suggest working on the bootleg figurines first. That way if you screw up it won't cost you more than $5 to fix unless you buy them online. It also won't be such a big deal. GO for it though! It's really rewarding to see how awesome they look when you're finished.
